Jim joined the Solomons team as a consultant in 2021, bringing with him 43 years’ experience in most areas of the law.

With highly specialised experience and interest in the fields of Insolvency, Relationship Property and Family Law, Dispute Resolution, Mediation and Arbitration, and Trusts, Jim provides invaluable support and advice.

Jim is an experienced arbitrator and mediator, and is a long-time Fellow of the Arbitrators’ & Mediators’ Institute of New Zealand (see aminz.org.nz). He is on the panels/list of recommended arbitrators and mediators for family disputes, rural disputes, and construction contract disputes.

Jim is closely associated with the Maniototo area, where he spends time each week. Over the years Jim has enjoyed assisting with teaching professional courses at Otago University. He currently teaches International Legal Issues in the Master of International Studies Degree and the Law of Insolvency.
